Since our humble start in a converted storage room in the old Waikiki Trade Center, we have partnered with Hawaii’s businesses and organizations through system implementations, upgrades, evolving client teams, global technology shifts and a pandemic. Our commitment to our clients is unwavering.

How we started

BST was created in 1996 by John Weldon as a consultant with humble beginnings working out of an office converted from a storage room in the old Waikiki Trade Center building. BST literally grew overnight when John hired the Human Resources information Systems (HRIS) staff of an international company that was divesting out of Hawaii. The HRIS staff was looking at the prospect of having to move to the mainland; upon request of the local client, John worked out an arrangement to hire and keep the team employed in Hawaii and able to support the client through the transition. BST has provided PeopleSoft implementation, upgrade and production support services for large local clients ever since.

Surviving Hawaii’s real estate crash.

Supporting large scale HRIS and human resources consulting needs.

BST took the time to invest in our team and resources amidst client budget constraints as a result of the Japanese real estate crash in the 1990s, and doubled in size as the economy recovered. BST began supporting large ADP system implementations and provided a full suite of human resources consulting services for one of the major airlines. Since then, BST has been providing HRIS and human resources consulting services for many of the largest local HR departments and organizations in the state.

Serving the State of Hawaii Department of Education, University of Hawaii and local private schools

Starting in 2004, BST assisted the Hawaii Department of Education with the consolidation of multiple departmental personnel systems into a single centralized human resources management system. The system was custom developed by BST to successfully meet a federal mandate with a tight deadline. Since then, BST has also been working with the University of Hawaii and several of the state’s largest private schools to support their human resources and student information systems.

Supporting Hawaii’s Healthcare industry with data analytics and compliance

In 2011, BST began working with the Queen’s Medical Center and Hawaii’s largest hospitals, healthcare providers, insurers, and industry thought leaders to support healthcare analytics efforts and consolidated data reporting across Hawaii’s healthcare sector. BST is a HIPAA compliant business associate and has assisted clients with their compliance efforts as well.
